'The world is in a cultural collapse' An Interview With Brandon Campbell

By Shaun Flores

For my interview, I wanted to do something different. It’s a political piece I would pitch to the Guardian in their race/ culture section. I spoke to a good friend of mine Brandon Campbell. He is a school teacher, passionate about education and hopes to be a history teacher someday. In my interview with him, we spoke of the world and identity politics. A current phenomenon that is proving to be one associated deeply with the liberal left.

Introduce yourself, who are you?

I am Brandon lee Campbell, I graduated in education, I am now a teacher at a school in Newham. I am from south-east London Stratford. I have been friends with Shaun for around 2 years now and the political conversations never stop you can rest assured of that.

What do you think of left-wing politics right now?

I think left-wing politics is in a diabolical state of affairs right now. I couldn’t imagine being part of the left when they are becoming more authoritarian in their speech. They want to police language at the expense of those who oppress others to give minorities a voice. Identity politics has been the worse thing to happen to society and it's further dividing us as they push their abhorrent ideologies upon us.

Why do you feel that left-wing politics has become so popular?

I feel left-wing politics has become so popular because most people especially young people in life want a sense of morality. A sense of morality that comes with cultural capital. Most of these people do not know what they are talking about. I always say that someone needs to have their house In order because attempting to make society a home for everyone. We need to go back to how humanity started in tribes m it was more conducive for humanity.

How would you solve the left-wing ideologies?

Well, first of all, we need to get out of our feelings because feelings do not serve to the betterment of society. Nature isn’t racist sexist or transphobic, some of the terms are nonsense and are embedded in the biology of humans which makes it scarier. The left is trying to alter sociology and render it more important than biology which is despicable, and it has to change.

Brandon, how do you see the world in 10 years?

We are in the midst’s of a collapse in society, war is ensuing and it’s not going to get any better. In a couple of years, I will see more of the feelings police come out and try to stop people from doing what they want to do. One person’s justice could be someone else's injustice. The world is a seesaw you can’t please everyone but you certainly can’t force these ideologies into mainstream society. And then when you disagree you are considered to be deplorable terms such as racist and sexist. It needs to change; the labels are weak and overplayed.
